Hans Henning Paar, since the season 2012/2013 artistic director and chief choreographer of Tanztheater Münster, began to choreograph During his dance studies at the Heinz-Bosl Foundation Munich. As soloist he danced in Ulm, Gelsenkirchen and Dortmund, before working as a choreographer for the Ballet Schindowski, for the Teatro Guaira Curitiba in Brazil and for the Landestheater Detmold. In 1996 he became the ballet director of the Municipal Theatre Nordhausen, followed by the State Theatre in Kassel, Braunschweig and the Gärtnerplatz Theater in Munich. As guest choreographer he works abroad, including Danzig and Hanoi, Vietnam.
In the last 18 years Hans Henning Paar created many full evenings and short dance pieces. His repertoire as choreographer includes contemporary interpretations of classical ballets and own original works. In addition to the interpretation of literary works, the confrontation with composers from different eras is a further focal point of his choreographies. In Paar's mainly on modern and contemporary dance-oriented work, in addition to the technical also the acting abilities of the company are requested. As director of the Tanztheater Münster he invites each season a guest choreographer to work out a new creation with the company. In addition, the ensemble members have the opportunity to develop their own choreographies and to show it.
Hans Henning Paar is the initiator of the 1st Dance Gala with international guests, which took place in 1999 at the Staatstheater Kassel in favor of the city Aids Benefit Organization. In the following years this sociocultural model has been acquired by many collegues and at other theaters and in December 2012 for the first time was held with great success at the Theater Münster.
